Our natural amphitheater and sluice box classroom on the banks of a wild stream is a stunning location to teach a brief history of gold prospecting and afford guests the opportunity to try hands on panning. Almost everyone finds a few flakes of gold! We accommodate groups of up to forty, such as those organized by tour operators, large family and friend gatherings/reunions, as well as student and outdoor groups including scouts, and classroom field trips.

Our “classroom” is located a short drive from our store, and a five minute easy walk into a beautiful wild stream. We preserved the beauty of the contours of the bend of the stream and the river bank, constructing a naturally curved seating area of roughhewn Cottonwood benches. Comfortable yet untamed. We have built a gravity fed sluice box, just like those used by prospectors of old, to demonstrate prospecting methods used then and still used today. The brief talk and demonstration is followed by a fun question and answers opportunity, and the opportunity for guests to try their hand at panning for gold from the sluice box. Guests quickly realized for themselves the challenges and jubilations associated with the rigors of gold fever!
