Trip of a lifetime! This is authentic, a real Alaskan adventure! The boat ride on Kenai Lake is stunning with gorgeous blue water. But the mining experience is the gem. 😉 Please note, it’s the real deal, it’s gritty, it’s tough, you’ll get wet. You are not just panning for gold in a pretty stream. You are digging and working to find your treasure. John is an absolute character; he will ensure you have a great time and make you smile. The miners Steve and Mike were incredible. So knowledgeable and incredibly kind. Amazing experience. I would do it over and over! And yeah, I found gold!

Highlight of our trip to Alaska! This is the real thing! We highly recommend the backcountry dredging trip! You are working an active mining claim! Great knowledge and stories from Prospector John and Miner Steve! Shaun also has a great shop and the ladies are very helpful! We will be back!! If you are going panning for the first time or if you have experience but want the opportunity to try it out in Alaska…this is your place! We loved it!
PREPARING FOR YOUR MINING ADVENTURE: Consider bringing rubber gloves as hands, forearms and elbows will be in and out of a cold mountain stream. We sell extra-long gloves, extending above the elbows, at our gift-store, though availability is not guaranteed. You can prepurchase pairs when booking dredge tour online to guarantee availability. Be sure to dress in layers, especially feet and legs. Bring water, snacks, insect repellant, binoculars, hats, gloves, and rain gear, and wear two pairs of socks, and/or extra-warm socks. Hip boots or full waders required; if you don’t have any, rentals available. Please arrive at our gift store 15 to 30 minutes before the scheduled departure time and our friendly staff will direct you regarding meet-up details.
